I lasted a year! I couldn't believe that our lecturers with all their degrees and PhDs were promoting the same rubbish to students who were going to become 'experts' in nutrition! At the time I was also heavily into bodybuilding and I noticed that the type of nutritional approach bodybuilders used to get extremely lean for competitions was vastly different to standard academic recommendations; I thought there would be more similarities! So I got the nutritional plans back from my clients, made some adjustments, gave the amended plans back to my clients and then voila! They started getting results.
The standard, academic nutritional recommendations being promoted by so-called 'health organizations' wasn't designed by nutritionists, dieticians or scientists- it was actually designed by a government organization! What we were being told was a pack of lies designed to sell more product and support the economy, not look after our health! After I finished my science degree in exercise physiology and human biology I decided to start another degree in the area that had become my passion, nutrition .
Another person might use all the principles too but only lose 2 kilograms in two weeks; they both lose weight and get results but at different rates ! T here are fundamental principles that work for everyone.
What I discovered was very interesting.
Then it is their job to simply learn all the principles and decide which ones suit them and their lifestyle.
In a short period of time my clients would stop getting results; they would stop losing weight, stop toning up and stop changing shape.
They can ignore the rest.
As a result, my approach is to offer people a 'smorgasbord' of health and weight-loss principles.
I knew that if I wanted to get my clients the best possible results I needed to learn about nutrition so I went to the university library and read everything I possibly could about nutrition.
Some people say to me, 'But isn't everyone's body different?' And I say, 'Yes, it is, but a fat cell is a fat cell and it responds to the same stimuli not matter what body it is in.
You may be thinking, 'What makes the ' Look Good Feel Great ' approach to weight loss so different to everything else I've tried in the past?' Well, having worked with hundreds of people over the years one thing I've noticed is that everyone's lifestyle is different.
